The town of Rigaud was founded in 1995 through an amalgamation of Rigaud village and the Sainte-Madeleine-de-Rigaud parish that extends to the bases of Rigaud Mountain. Located between Montreal and Ottawa on the borders of Lake Deux-Montagnes and the Outaouais river, the town is now comprised of over 7,500 permanent residents.
