Surplus food from theGallant Inn are taken very seriously. After becoming aware of the amount of consumable food that ended up in the trash at the end of the week, the Inn had no choice but to take action!

As we have always had a mission to help and give back to the local community, the Inn is very proud to be a partner of La Tablée des Chefs, in order to reduce food waste following busy weekends of events.

Since February, every Monday, the Café de la Débrouille of Rigaud comes to collect surplus food to give to those in need.

If you don’t know, Le Café de la Débrouille is a non-profit organization, in operation since 1992, whose mission is to ensure qualitative and quantitative food security for individuals and families.

Thanks to our collaboration, the Auberge’s surpluses no longer end up in the garbage, but give food portions to people in need in the Rigaud, Pointe-Fortune and Très-Saint-Rédempteur regions.

In the last quarter, donations amounted to 374 kg of food saved, which is equivalent to 1,245 food portions redistributed.

Since the Inn has a green mission at heart, food waste is not part of its values. We are therefore very happy to have a solution for our surplus, and to be able to help, by the same token, people in the region in need!
