The ice storm of January 1998 certainly left its mark on the minds of Quebecers, but for the Gallant family, who had cherished the dream of operating a sugar shack since the beginning in 1972, it was the starting point for the construction of what would become Sucrerie des Gallant.

Far from being overwhelmed by the destruction of many trees, they decided instead to use these fallen trees to build a log cabin in the center of a vast maple grove on the south side of Mount Rigaud.

So 20 years ago, the Gallant Sugar Factory opened its doors for the first time on February 25, 2000. It is with pride that we now have 10,000 taps across the property for the transformation of syrup into by-products, sold year-round at theAuberge des Gallant and in season at the Sugar Factory. Our delicious syrup is available at Fordham Metro in Saint-Zotique or at 325 convenience store in Rigaud.

The Sugar factory also serves as a reception hall for events of all kinds and charms with its unique and warm atmosphere. It is also a favorite place for many hikers and skiers to rest, enjoy a hearty maple meal and appreciate a full range of maple products.

Today, it is Steven Gallant, the son of the owners, who takes over the maple grove and is in charge of the maple syrup production.

The 2020 season will begin on February 29 and end on May 2. Go to the Sugar factory to see the days and hours of operation and to reserve your table online.
